Biography of Hon. Engr. Satomi Ahmad, FNSE

Early Life & Education
Engr. Satomi began his educational journey at Old Maiduguri Primary School, continuing to Government College Maiduguri in 1993 and completing his secondary education in 1999. Determined to pursue further studies despite financial challenges, he obtained a Pivotal Teacher’s Certificate from the Teachers Institute Kaduna and later earned a Diploma in Computer Programming, enabling him to work and support his academic goals.
His passion for service led him to volunteer as a mathematics teacher at Mafoni Day Secondary School, where he taught for nine years, helping to fill a critical gap in public schools at the time.
Engr. Satomi was later admitted to the University of Maiduguri. Although he initially enrolled for Medicine, he discovered his true calling in Engineering and transitioned to the Faculty of Engineering, graduating with a degree in Civil and Water Resources Engineering, earning double honors in Water Engineering. He also furthered is education and obtained MEng Highway and Transportation Engineering.
Career & Public Service
A committed member of Nigeria’s progressive political movement, Engr. Satomi has been aligned with President Muhammadu Buhari since the ANPP era and later served in key leadership roles within the CPC.
After completing his NYSC, he joined SKY (Sani Kongila Yakasai) Constructions Limited, a leading construction company. He later ventured into politics, contesting for the Jere Federal Constituency seat in 2015. Although he narrowly missed the ticket, his leadership potential earned him appointment as Chairman of the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), where he transformed the agency’s operations and strengthened its capacity for effective response.
Recognizing his outstanding performance, Governor Kashim Shettima appointed him as the head of the Borno State Road Maintenance Agency (BORMA). Under his stewardship, the state experienced unprecedented improvements in road construction and maintenance, earning a reputation as a “zero pothole” state. He served until January 2019, when he stepped down to recontest for the House of Representatives seat.
Legislative Leadership
In 2019, Engr. Satomi won the election to represent Jere Federal Constituency in the 9th House of Representatives under the All Progressives Congress (APC) with an overwhelming margin. He also re-contested and won for the 2nd time at the just concluded 2023 General Election into the 10th House of Representatives members which made him the record breaker in the history of Jere Federal Constituency Elections.
In the National Assembly, he continues to champion infrastructural development, community empowerment, education, and policies that strengthen national resilience.
Personal Life
Hon. Engr. Satomi Ahmad is married and blessed with three wives and six children. He remains deeply committed to service, leadership, and the development of Borno State and Nigeria.
